What is cold wax painting?
Cold wax painting is one of the most beautiful ways to create depth, softness, and rich layered texture in your artwork. If you are new to this medium, don’t worry, you don’t need complicated materials or years of experience to begin.

In this online class, I’ll walk you through what cold wax medium is, which supplies you actually need, and how to start building your first textured layers with confidence. My own work began with this process, and it completely changed the way I paint. If you love expressive marks, subtle scraping, and paintings that feel alive with history, cold wax painting might become your favorite medium too.
Essential supplies to get started
You don't need much to start with cold wax and oil painting, oil paint, the cold wax medium and a support like oil paper (I use Arches Oil paper) or a (rigid) support. Also something to apply the paint, but that can be as simple as an old credit card!

My step by step beginners process
I created this course for those who are new to cold wax medium painting, BUT I am sure that even those of you who are more experienced, will enjoy the class as a refresher of all the cold wax painting techniques that can be used to create beautiful layered paintings.
Although I have been painting with Cold Wax Medium for quite some time now, I noticed that I often use the same cold wax techniques (glazing and powders/pigments being my favorites), and filming the other techniques made me aware of how much fun they are and I use them much more now!
Since it is a very full class with lots of projects, don't buy all the colors I used but adapt the project to the colors you already have!
